No new swine flu cases in update
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/8042723.stm Version 0 of 1. The latest update on swine flu in Scotland revealed there were no new confirmed or probable cases. A 19-year-old from Greenock was confirmed on Saturday as the fifth person in Scotland infected with the H1N1 virus. The Scottish Government said a woman from the Lothian health board area was still regarded as a probable case. Three new possible cases - in the Ayrshire and Arran, Tayside and Lothian NHS areas - are under investigation. Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said it was encouraging that the majority of patients were still testing negative. "This shows that our containment strategy is continuing to be successful in preventing any large-scale onward spread to the general population," she said. "I would stress that the risk to public health in Scotland remains low and it is fortunate that so far, outside of Mexico, most of those infected have had only a relatively mild reaction. "However this does not give cause for complacency and we will continue to remain vigilant as we work with NHS boards and Health Protection Scotland to disrupt the spread of the virus." |
