Jobs fear after call centre sale | Jobs fear after call centre sale |
(1 day later) | |
Concern has been voiced for jobs after a call centre company employing 800 people across Scotland was sold.
BBC Scotland revealed Vertex had been bought by a group of investors led by Texas-based firm Oak Hill Capital.
The company, with bases in Dingwall, Edinburgh and the Moray town of Forres, said it was too early to say if employees would be affected.
Politicians, who said the call centres were important employers, are now seeking assurances.
Vertex was put up for sale by its parent company, United Utilities, last month.
The Scottish National Party's Moray MP Angus Robertson and MSP Richard Lochhead said in a statement: "The Forres call centre is an important employer in Moray with excellent staff and we are concerned that the facility and jobs remain.
"It is too early to know about the plans of the purchasing company but we will be seeking early assurances about the future of the Forres call centre.
"It is also a worry that there has been no notice or explanation of the move and we expect there to be better communication to the staff and community representatives." |
