Police officer accused of murder

A 26-year-old policeman has been charged with murdering his police constable girlfriend.

Claire Howarth, a Greater Manchester Police officer, was found fatally injured after a car crash on 7 May on Tottington Road, Harwood, Bolton.

Martin Alexander Forshaw, of Meadow Way in Tottington, was charged with murder and is due to appear before Bolton Magistrates' Court on 11 May.

Post-mortem tests showed Miss Howarth, 31, died of a head injury.
