The arrested officer, 26, is understood to serve with Cheshire Police. The arrested officer, Martin Forshaw, 26, serves with Cheshire Police.

Greater Manchester Police paid tribute to Miss Howarth, who had just become a constable after being a student officer for two years. The couple's home in Meadow Way has been cordoned off and and forensics science officers have been at the scene.
