A woman police officer has been arrested and suspended after an anti-corruption raid in which mobile phones and drugs were also recovered.

The 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office and handling stolen goods.

Six other people were arrested during the raids across south-east London, the Metropolitan Police said.

A stun gun, pepper spray and stolen police radio were also recovered.

Of the six civilian arrests, five were men aged from 24 to 32. The woman arrested was 32-years-old.

The arrests follow an investigation into a network of individuals believed to be involved in the theft and ringing of high-value cars and the supply of drugs to prison inmates.

The operation was carried out by the Met's anti-corruption command, in conjunction with officers from the London prison anti-corruption team and the Met's Stolen Vehicle Unit.
