A police officer in the West Midlands has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Stourbridge during the early hours. A police officer was seriously injured when he was hit by a car after signalling the driver to stop.
West Midlands Police were called to reports of people acting suspiciously near Hammond Way at about 0140 BST. The 30-year-old officer who is based in Stourbridge, was taken to hospital after he was hit by a silver Suburu.

Police blocked the road with their car and got out to speak to the occupants, who drove past them and hit a Pc. When they tried to block a Suburu in Sandyacre Way and speak to the driver the car sped off hitting the officer.
The 30-year-old officer, who is based in Stourbridge, was taken to hospital, where he is believed to be in a stable condition. Police said the driver of the car was wearing a balaclava.
The area has been closed for forensic investigations. Two or three other men in the car were wearing balaclavas or scarves over their faces, a force spokesman said.
