Version 0 of 1.

Four Jewish settlers, including two off-duty soldiers, have been arrested after shots were fired at a Palestinian village, Israeli police say.

The attack on the West Bank village of Safa was carried out in revenge for the killing on an Israeli boy in April.

The military said troops had to restore order after residents of Bat Ayin settlement, shooting from a nearby hill, refused orders to leave the area.

Safa's Palestinians residents also clashed with troops, with two injured.

The Israeli military called the settlers' actions an "unnecessary and dangerous provocation", according to Haaretz news website.

The Israeli boy, 13, from the Bat Ayin settlement was killed by a man from Safa on 2 April.

A younger child was also wounded.

A number of Palestinians have been injured in subsequent incidents in the area, in which they say settlers opened fire at them or vandalised their property.

About 1,000 Israelis live in the settlement, between the towns of Hebron and Bethlehem.
