A charity fund started in memory of one of five women killed in Suffolk has raised more than £13,500.

Gemma's Gift appeal was set up by 25-year-old Gemma Adams' family at Christmas to raise funds for a children's hospice in Ipswich.

Steve Wright, 48, of Ipswich, has been charged with murdering Miss Adams and four other Ipswich prostitutes.

Tania Nicol, 19, Anneli Alderton, 24, Paula Clennell, 24, and Annette Nicholls, 29, were also killed.

They were found dead near villages south of Ipswich during a 10-day period in December.

The appeal, set up on 21 December, last year, originally hoped to raise £500, which was increased to £5,000 and then to £10,000 after exceeding both targets.

We feel that Gemma would have been proud and privileged to contribute to such a worthy cause Gail and Brian Adams

The appeal's website contains a personal message from Miss Adams' parents Gail and Brian Adams, which says: "Our local children's hospice in Ipswich gives care and support to life-limited children and their families.

"The wish of our family and friends is that some good will come out of our terrible loss and we feel that Gemma would have been proud and privileged to contribute to such a worthy cause."

Many donors have also sent messages of sympathy to the parents of 25-year-old Miss Adams.
