Earlier this week, the Foreign Office confirmed Mr Preston, who was working for Adamac Industries, was "safe".
He was said to be "very distressed" by his abduction, which saw him being shot in both feet, his guard killed and another badly injured.
He told The Sun: "When they threw me in the back of the car they shot through my two feet.
"They stuck a gag in my mouth and the guy who jumped on top of me had an AK47 at the back of my ear.
"We came to a checkpoint where I think they paid the policemen because the car was never searched."
'Carried me' | |
Mr Preston said he was drugged, tortured, beaten and threatened with death and then after 16 days he was freed by Nigerian special forces.
He said about the rescue: "And then the gun fight started. They were rushing me and telling me to come but I said I couldn't because of my feet.
"So one carried me over the first swamp and gave me to the next one and they passed me along the chain until we got to dry land."
