(1 day later)
A cyclist has died from head injuries after an incident involving a car, which failed to stop at the scene. Tributes have been paid to a 34-year-old man who died after his bicycle was involved in a crash with a car.
The green Rover 216 coupe was found abandoned nearby a short time later and two men are being questioned. Father-of-three Stuart Robst died in hospital after his bike and a green Rover 216 coupe, which failed to stop at the scene, collided in Ely, Cardiff.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident near the junction of Grand Avenue and St David's Crescent in Ely, Cardiff, around 1811 BST on Wednesday. Mr Robst's family paid tribute to the keen fisherman and gardener, saying he would be missed by family and friends.
The cyclist was a 32-year-old local man who died later in hospital following the collision, say police. South Wales Police said two men who were arrested have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A force spokesman said: "It would appear both cyclist and car have come into contact and the cyclist has fallen into the road." In a statement, Mr Robst's family said he was a favourite uncle and a proud father of three children.
"Stuart was popular in the Canton and Ely areas for cycling in his red jacket with blue shoulder panels," said the family.
"Everybody acknowledged him in the Ely area and he will be missed by family, friends and the Ely community."
Mr Robst, who had three sisters, had worked as a care nurse in a nursing home and was said to enjoy fishing with his father Erick, friends and family.
