DUP MP William McCrea said that he understood the dead man was a 61-year-old husband and father. A member of the victim's family told the BBC the dead man was a financial advisor who had recently celebrated his 60th birthday.
The South Antrim representative also said he did not think dissident republican involvement would be the "leading line of inquiry". He was married with four sons. His wife and one of his sons were in the house when the shooting took place.
The family member described the victim as a "happy-go-lucky family man". He said they were baffled as to why he been targeted.
