Homes evacuated in security alert People moved over road bomb claim
(about 8 hours later)
Twelve homes in west Belfast were evacuated on Sunday evening because of a bomb scare. Several families have been moved from their homes in County Fermanagh due to a bomb alert.
The alert began in the Glendale area of west Belfast at about 1900 BST. It follows a claim by dissident republican terrorists that a device had been left on the B36 between Dernawilt and Rosslea.
Army technical officers were called to the scene to examine a car. The alert lasted several hours. The road is expected to remain closed for some time.
It ended shortly after midnight. A police spokesman said the car had been examined and nothing suspicious had been found. On Sunday night, 12 homes in the Glendale area of west Belfast were evacuated due to another alert. A car was examined but nothing was found.
