Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose dismembered body was found across Leicestershire and Hertfordshire. Detectives have revealed a man and a woman are being questioned over a dismembered body found dumped in Leicestershire and Hertfordshire.
Detectives from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit said they had arrested two people. The man, 37, and woman, 20, from north London, appeared at Hatfield Remand Court earlier.
The two, in their 20s and 30s, were arrested at an address in north London on Tuesday and were in custody in Hertfordshire, said police. Magistrates granted police an extra 36 hours to quiz the pair, who were arrested at an address in Southgate.
A spokesman said they believed they had now identified the murder victim. They can be held until late on Friday. Police believe they have now identified the 49-year-old victim of the killing.
'Working closely' Det Supt Andy Shrives, from the the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit , said: "The progress we have made has come about directly through the support of the media and I am extremely grateful to the press.
Det Ch Insp Michael Hanlon said: "We believe we have identified the victim of the murder and specialist officers are currently working closely with the family. "In terms of identification, we are making positive steps forward and will be able to confirm the details of the victim once all the next of kin have been informed.
"We cannot release any more details of his identity at this stage." "We can say at this stage however he is aged 49 and lived in north London."
A post-mortem examination showed the man died of a stab wound to the back.

The man was said to be aged between his mid-40s and early-60s and was of large build, weighing between 16 and 17 stone (102-107kg). Advertisement
