Lorry driver dies in flyover fall

A 47-year-old lorry driver was killed when he fell from a flyover onto the A1 in Bedfordshire as he was trying to adjust his load.

The driver from Northamptonshire was on the A428 at Wyboston, Bedford, when he stopped on the flyover on Monday.

While he was trying to adjust the strapping on his load, he lost his balance and fell backwards over the bridge onto the A1 below, police said.

He will not be named until an inquest has been opened.
