The brother of a Derry GAA football star has died after being injured in an attack in Cookstown at the weekend.

Connor McCusker, 31, from Ballinderry, had been on a night out with his younger brother Niall, the Derry vice-captain, on Saturday.

A PSNI spokesperson said a murder inquiry had been launched. A 21-year-old man remains in police custody.

Mr McCusker suffered head injuries during the incident outside a nightclub in James Street early on Sunday.
