The US military says eight American soldiers were also wounded in the bombing, which happened near a checkpoint in Baquba. US army officials are holding talks with local leaders in Baquba - which is the capital of Diyala province. The area has seen some of the worst violence in the Iraq conflict since the Us-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. Reports say the attacker was wearing an Iraqi military uniform, and it was not immediately clear if he was a soldier or in disguise. US forces have faced assaults from Iraqi soldiers and Iraqis posing as soldiers in the past. Iraqi security officials said at least seven civilians were also hurt in the incident. |
