Fisheries Minister Michel Barnier has refused to renegotiate the quotas, which were set by the EU in December. Regarding the fishing quotas which were set by the EU in December, Mr Barnier refused to renegotiate the cod quota, pointing out that the quotas for parts of the English Channel were actually increased by 30%.

He said he would meet EU Fisheries Commissioner Joe Borg later this month to discuss the system.
