It is thought the drive may contain information which was used on an SAS training exercise. It had been assigned to members of the Signals Regiment attached to the Hereford-based Special Forces unit before it went missing. It was found to be unaccounted for during a a routine equipment audit and an investigation was launched. An MoD spokesman said: "We can confirm that we are investigating the possible loss of a hard drive, containing only unclassified information which was being used on a training exercise." The spokesman said the data contained on the drive was basic and unrestricted, including hypothetical situations rather than sensitive or secret details. He added that the equipment may have simply been locked away and might not have actually been lost. |
