Morning meetings of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean) summit were delayed following clashes between protesters and government supporters. A Thai government government spokesman said leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) decided to postpone the talks.
Earlier, ministers from China, Japan and South Korea had to cancel a trilateral session. Separate talks between Asean and China were postponed. It is not clear so far whether only the Saturday session or the whole two-day summit has been cancelled.
It is the first time the protesters were able to interrupt summit business. Thailand has been in turmoil for months, following the removal of allies of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra.
