A London Transport spokesman said the nearby tube and bus stations had been closed as a precaution. Transport for London said the bus station and one of two Tube stations had been closed as a precaution.
Police said no residents were affected.
One Hammersmith station, serving the District and Piccadilly lines, remained closed on Friday evening. Trains were running but not stopping at the station, said Transport for London.
The second Tube station, for the Hammersmith & City line, was unaffected.
Buses continued to run but were being diverted around the bus station, which was also closed.
