Man shot in attack critically ill Gun attack treated as murder bid

A man in his 20s is in a critical condition after being shot three times in north Belfast. A gun attack in north Belfast which left a 22-year-old man seriously ill is being treated as attempted murder.
He was shot in the abdomen and legs at Brookfield Place in the Ardoyne area some time before 2130 BST on Thursday. The victim and two of his friends were sitting in a car in Brookfield Place, Ardoyne, when they were attacked just after 2100 BST on Thursday.
Police are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, and have appealed for witnesses. Three or four masked men fired shots through the driver's window, hitting the victim in his legs and his abdomen.
A second man, in his 20s, sustained a graze wound to his leg and the third man was uninjured.
Police have said they are continue to investigate a motive for the shooting and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Margaret McClenaghan said there was "no justification or reason" for the attack.
"People here are stunned - they don't have a clue as to what the reason was behind it," she said.
