Stuart McMillan, SNP MSP for West of Scotland and a member of the Scottish Parliament's economy committee, expressed shock at the news.
He said: "I am extremely disappointed to hear that T-Mobile is to shed over 500 jobs and that 118 of these jobs will be call centre posts in Greenock.
"The T-Mobile centre in Greenock has been a good source of employment for the local community and to see these jobs losses is very disheartening especially as it seems they are being moved to the Philippines.
"I am confident the Scottish Government will put all support possible in place for those affected by this announcement and will be speaking to the enterprise minister in the near future."
