Woman seriously hurt in M8 crash

A 24-year-old woman has been seriously injured in a crash on the M8 motorway near Glasgow.

Police said she suffered head injuries after her car hit the central reservation at junction 15 Townhead at about about 0330 BST.

The eastbound carriageway between junction 15 and 16 was closed for about three hours and motorists faced early morning delays.

The injured driver was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Another woman, a passenger in the car, was not thought to be badly hurt.
