Three men have been remanded in custody charged in connection with a foiled armed robbery in west Belfast. | |
The charges relate to an incident at the Twin Spires shops on the Falls Road on Thursday. | |
Thomas Corrigan, 34, of no fixed abode, Patrick McAllister, 29, of Point Road, Magilligan and Francis McColgan, 35, of Falls Road, Belfast, were in court. | |
They are charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery, having a firearm with intent and handling stolen goods. | |
Patrick McAllister was also charged with having a quantity of cannibas, whilst Francis McColgan was also accused of possessing cocaine. | |
A specialist police unit swooped on a stolen car parked outside a bank on the Falls Road on Thursday. | |
A detective from the organised crime squad told Belfast Magistrates Court that police foiled a pre-planned robbery. | |
A sawn-off shotgun and latex gloves were found at the scene. | |
The detective told the court that these, along with mobile phones and the stolen car, are undergoing forensic examination. | |
He said there would also be evidence from surveillance officers. | |
