A bomb has been found in a residential area of a County Tyrone village.

The device was discovered in Moygashel, near Dungannon, on Friday. Detectives warned people to remain vigilant and not to approach suspicious objects.

They have appealed for anyone who saw suspicious activity late on Thursday or early on Friday to contact them.

Police began searching the area following a call to a Belfast newsroom claiming that a number of devices had been left in the area.

An earlier alert in the village was declared a hoax.
