Steve Fawke added: "At around 1400 BST an incident occurred on the Oxford Road outside the shopping centre whereby a young black male was brutally attacked.

"Our centre security team and Thames Valley Police were on the scene within a minute whereby the police apprehended a black male.
"The Broad Street Mall's CCTV system captured the whole incident, a copy of which has been made available to the police to help with their investigation.
"We have since learned that the victim has died and we offer our deepest sympathies to his family at this desperately sad time."

A police spokesman said: "At this early stage, police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who was in the area prior or immediately after the incident." Advertisement
A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed they took the teenager to hospital but could not give details of his injuries.
