A search led by the Coast Guard rescue helicopter discovered the wreckage in an isolated area of the Bog of Allen near the Kildare-Meath border. The wreckage of their aircraft was found near the Kildare-Meath border. The pilot was from County Donegal and his student was from County Clare.
It is understood that the pilot was from County Donegal and his student was from County Clare. The helicopter hit power lines on Kilmurray Bog, County Kildare, before it crashed in the Bog of Allen.
Irish police said they were involved in the investigation coordinated by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). Air accident investigators said there was no power in the lines but the helicopter appeared to strike them before impact.
"(The helicopter) has been located somewhere around the Bog of Allen," said an IAA spokeswoman.
