A couple in their 50s have been left shaken after a JCB digger was driven through the front of a house in County Armagh. A couple have been left shaken after a JCB digger was driven through the front of a house in Lurgan, County Armagh, late on Wednesday night.
The digger came to rest in the living room of the property in the Braemar Avenue area of the Moureview estate in Lurgan before being set on fire. A 55-year-old man was in the living-room when the digger crashed through the wall of the property in the Braemar Avenue area of the Mourneview estate.
A 55-year-old man and 51-year-old woman were in the house at the time. A fire had also been started in the bucket of the digger.
Police, who have issued and appeal for information, said they were treating the incident as criminal damage. The man's 51-year-old wife was sleeping upstairs at the time of the attack. A motive has yet to be established.
It is understood the house is owned by the couple's son and they don't usually stay there. It is understood there have been tensions in the neighbourhood.
A motive for the attack has yet to be established. The couple's son said the house, and cars belonging to the family, had been attacked on several occasions.
