The parents of a 29-year-old man who was shot dead during a raid at a village post office have returned to work at the store. Craig Hodson-Walker died at Fairfield Post Office and Stores, in Worcestershire, on 9 January. Volunteers from the village had been running the post-office while his father Ken, who was also injured, and mother Judy took time off. Four men have been charged with Mr Hodson-Walker's murder. They are also accused of the attempted murder of his father and attempted robbery and are due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 10 July. Ghastly as the events were they do sometimes have the effect of helping everybody pull together James Bradley, Belbroughton and Fairfield Parish Council James Bradley, chairman of Belbroughton and Fairfield Parish Council, said the family had been gradually taking on a bigger role in running the shop. He added: "They're holding up remarkably well considering how awful the events were that happened. "Obviously it takes time to even begin to recover from something like that. "Ken and Judy have asked me to say how very grateful they are to all the volunteers who've worked in the shop and also to the community as a whole. "Ghastly as the events were they do sometimes have the effect of helping everybody pull together and I think that's what happened on this occasion." He said some volunteers had agreed to carry on as paid workers at the shop in future. |
