A woman has died in a fire at a house in the Armoy area of north Antrim.A woman has died in a fire at a house in the Armoy area of north Antrim.
The blaze, at an isolated property on the Hillside Road, was reported by a passerby at about 0920 GMT on Saturday.The blaze, at an isolated property on the Hillside Road, was reported by a passerby at about 0920 GMT on Saturday.
Three fire crews, one from Ballymoney and two from Ballycastle, attended the fire. They found the woman's body in the living room. The fire service's Geoff White said the fire was "well developed with a lot of smoke coming from the property" by the time three appliances arrived.
The circumstances surrounding the fire are currently being investigated. No further details have been released by police. "The crews from Ballymoney and Ballycastle quickly got into action and wearing breathing apparatus, carrying a hose in, entered the building."
Group Commander White continued: "Sadly, a short time later they discovered a lady in the living room area, who was later pronounced dead on scene."
The circumstances surrounding the fire are under investigation.
No details as to the woman's identity have been released.
