Lyndon Coles, 45, and his fiancee Nicole McMurray, 33, were arrested at a guest house in the Medway area at about 1800 GMT on Thursday, police said. The arrests followed "extensive inquiries" in Kent, officers added. Coles escaped from Kirklevington Prison near Yarm, Cleveland, where he was serving a life sentence for the murder of Shane George in Hull in 1994. He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years for the murder of Mr George who was shot dead as he opened his door. Police said Coles absconded from the prison between 1940 GMT on Saturday and 0730 GMT on Sunday. Kirklevington is a resettlement prison for adult male offenders who intend to settle in the North East of England on their release. |
