House fire kills three brothers

Three brothers have died and three other family members have been injured in a house fire in County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.

The blaze broke out in the house in the Moneymore housing estate in Drogheda on Monday morning.

The three brothers who died were aged from six to 22 years of age. Another 13-year-old brother remains in a critical condition.

Their parents, who were also injured, are being treated in hospital.

Drogheda Fire Service said it was alerted to the fire at 0750 GMT.

The fire is believed to have started in the living-room of the house.

Neighbours tried to get into the house but were forced back by the flames.

The fire has since been brought under control.

Two other children were staying with relatives at the time.
