Insp Jim Keenan from Lincolnshire Police said they were looking into the causes of the blast. Carl Wall, a neighbour who lived across the road from the house, said several people tried to save the man.
"We are carrying out forensic examinations of the place and physical searches to determine what precisely was the cause," he said. Another neighbour, Pauline Barnes, said: "It was horrendous really to think that there was actually someone in there.
"At this stage, we are simply not able to confirm the cause of the fire. We don't believe there was any third party involvement in this death at all and no suspicious circumstances." "I was just relieved his partner and children are safe."
