A second man has been charged with the murder of a businessman who died in hospital eight months after being shot in the neck outside an east London pub. A second man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a businessman who died in hospital eight months after being shot in the neck.
David Austin, 40, of Dunley Drive, New Addington, south London, is due before Enfield magistrates on Monday. Charles Butler, 50, from Dagenham, fell into a coma after being shot outside an east London pub in October 2004.
On Friday police also charged Douglas Johnson, 27, of Witley Crescent, New Addington, with murder. David Austin, 40, of Dunley Drive, New Addington, south London, was remanded in custody before Enfield Magistrates.
They are charged with killing Charles Butler, aged 50, who was shot in October 2004. On Friday, Douglas Johnson, 27, of Witley Crescent, New Addington, was also remanded in custody.
Mr Butler was shot in the neck after running from his attacker outside his Dagenham home. Both men will appear for a plea and case management hearing at the Old Bailey on 13 April.
He fell into a coma and was put on a life-support machine. He died eight months later at Oldchurch Hospital.
Mr Johnson was remanded in custody when he appeared before magistrates in Enfield and will appear for a further hearing at the Old Bailey in April.
