Four dangerous dogs have been seized by police and RSPCA inspectors in two raids at properties in West Yorkshire.

Police said they executed two search warrants under the Dangerous Dogs Act at addresses in Liversedge and Heckmondwike following a tip-off.

Two local men were arrested on suspicion of offences under the act in the Saturday raids, the force said.

The dogs were taken into the care of police and DNA tests were due to be carried out to confirm the breeds.

Ch Supt Barry South said: "Where we have information that people are keeping or breeding dogs that are illegal, we will take positive action and act on this information."
