Injured man airlifted from boat

A Spanish fisherman injured in a fall on board his boat has been picked up by the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter hundreds of miles out at sea.

The Lithuanian vessel Anuva reported the incident just after 1900 GMT on Friday night.

The ship was 170 miles north west of Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, when the crewman was injured.

A coastguard spokesman said the casualty had been taken to Stornoway for treatment.
