Blagojevich signs deal for book
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/world/americas/7920277.stm Version 0 of 1. Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has signed a "six-figure" book deal, his publicist says. The Chicago politician, accused of attempting to "sell" Barack Obama's seat in the US Senate, will write about the "dark side of politics". The book will be "embarrassing to himself as well as to others", his publicist adds. Mr Blagojevich, who denies any wrongdoing, was last month removed from office for abusing his powers. He became the first governor in the United States in more than 20 years to be ousted by impeachment. In a statement, his publicist Glenn Selig says some people "in high places" tried to prevent a book deal. Democrat Mr Blagojevich, who has not been formally indicted, was arrested in December on federal corruption charges. Following a vote in the state Senate in January, he was banned from holding public office in Illinois for life. The terms of the book deal have not been not disclosed. The book, which has a working title of "The Governor", is set to be released in October, according to Mr Selig. |
