An arms cache, including what are believed to have been two pipebombs, has been discovered close to the border in County Donegal.

Irish police found four pistols, two revolvers and two sawn-off shotguns in the Carrigans area, close to Londonderry, on Saturday.

The two suspected pipebombs were made safe by army bomb experts. A quantity of ammunition was also found.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
