Man, 40, held over woman's death

A man has been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a woman at her home.

Gwent Police said they have 30 officers investigating the death of the woman, who was aged in her late 50s, at her house in Caerphilly.

Officers found the woman's body after going to the property on Mill Road at around 11.20 GMT on Friday.

The cause of the woman's death has yet to be established. The man, aged 40, was being questioned by detectives.

Det Supt Geoff Ronayne, who is leading the investigation, said he wanted to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious between 0900 GMT on Thursday and noon on Friday.

He said: "In particular I'm interested in what happened overnight at number 63 Mill Road and would like to speak to anyone who was at, or near the address during this time."
