The world record for the most valuable private art collection to be sold at auction has been broken, according to Christie's in Paris.

During the first two days of a three-day sale, buyers parted with £272m (€307m) for hundreds items that belonged to the late French couturier Yves Saint Laurent, and his former partner Pierre Berge.
