Three held in dissident inquiry

Three men have been arrested in Northern Ireland and the Republic as part of a cross-border operation against dissident republicans.

Two men, aged 45 and 36, were arrested in Strabane and a 38-year-old man was detained in County Donegal.

Police said the arrests were linked to the theft of legally-held weapons.

A Strabane man was forced last month to drive to Castlefin in Donegal to hand over the weapons while his partner and child were held hostage at home.

A PSNI spokesperson said the arrests were part of an ongoing operation.
