Boy arrested over stabbing murder

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager stabbed to death near an east London railway station.

Michael Simon Wright, 17, from Leyton, was found with stab wounds opposite Maryland station in Leytonstone Road, Stratford, on Thursday night.

Police said the arrested boy was being held at an east London police station.

A woman in her 30s has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was also in custody.

Detectives had said they believed Michael could have been targeted as part of gang-related violence.

He died at the Royal London Hospital shortly after being found at about 2230 GMT.
