Police have named an outdoor instructor swept away when his boat capsized in a river in Cumbria. | |
He was David Thorne, 47, from Talybont-on-Usk in Powys. | |
Mr Thorne had been in a two-person canoe with a companion on the River Lune near Sedburgh on Wednesday when their vessel overturned. | |
The other person swam to safety, but Mr Thorne did not resurface. His body was discovered five miles downriver and a search was called off. | |
Mr Thorne had been married with two children. Police divers, mountain rescue teams and specialist dog handlers had been called in to help with the search. | |
Cumbria Police said his body had been found in the river near the village of Barbon. | |
