A North Yorkshire-based ship which was filmed for the TV series Hornblower is up for sale for £1.75m.

Moored in the port of Whitby, the Grand Turk is a replica of the 18th century British frigate HMS Phoenix and was originally up for sale at £2.8m.

Made by Surrey boat builder Michael Turk, it was the first wooden British frigate to be built for over 150 years.

The ship can host 155 people, including crew and staff, for day sailing charters.

It needs 28 crew for sailing.

The 152ft (46m) tall Grand Turk is made of the African tropical hardwood iroko and mahogany.

It was filmed for the first series of Hornblower off the Crimean coast in the Black Sea in September 1997 and also filmed for the second series in 1998 off the Portuguese coast.
