"She said to me the defendant had raped both her and Cherrell and there had been other incidents of sexual intercourse," he said. Cherrell's mother Deborah Evans told the court she had also seen texts from Mr Nicholls on her daughter's mobile phone and that she rang him to tell him it was inappropriate.
Mrs Evans said she also went to the Air Training Corps office to ask for an investigation because she was not happy with Mr Nicholls' response.

"I wasn't happy. Cherrell was only 13. A man shouldn't be texting my daughter," she said.
"I got the number from Cherrell's phone and phoned it and he answered and I expressed my concerns about the texts, the fact he was having contact with my daughter.
"He tried reassuring me it was nothing untoward and that he had kids of his own."
The court also heard Mrs Evans had contacted social services to notify them of her concerns about Mr Nicholls.
She said Cherrell had many problems, including self-harm and being bullied, and went into respite care once a month.
