Images of a gang who terrorised staff at a Tesco store in Greater Manchester have been released by police.

The four offenders, armed with crowbars and golf clubs, targeted the Tesco Express on Ashley Road, Trafford, on 12 February at about 2230 GMT.

They jumped over the counter, threatened staff, stole cigarettes and cash from two tills before escaping.

Detectives said the robbers knew there would be few people around and have appealed for the public's help.

Det Con John Chadwick, from Stretford CID, said: "The offenders have targeted the store late at night when they knew there would be few staff and customers inside.

"They have gone in as a large group and used the threat of violence to steal as much as they could.

"The gang may have bragged about what they have done or tried to sell some of the cigarettes so I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact me."
