A British woman died after she fell out of a tree she climbed in Australia to take pictures, an inquest has found.

Katherine Bradley, 23, from Codicote in Hertfordshire was taking pictures of Sydney's Botanical Gardens in February 2007 when the accident happened.

She broke her back in more than one place and suffered internal bleeding around her brain. She died in hospital two days later.

Hertfordshire Coroner Edward Thomas recorded a verdict of accidental death.

'A lovely girl'

Mr Thomas said: "She was in the Botanical Gardens, a very beautiful part of Sydney near the area of water where you can see the Harbour Bridge and the sights.

"She was taking photographs and sadly she fell."

Speaking to her parents he said: "I cannot begin to imagine how awful this was for her, you and the friends that were with her.

"Nothing I can say can take that away.

"She was acting quite appropriately in relation to being out in Australia and it must have been dreadful to hear that she had had this terrible accident."

Miss Bradley was in Australia with friends when the accident happened.

A post-mortem examination carried out in Sydney found she died from her injuries.
