Version 0 of 1.

A mother who was arrested following the death of her two sons in a fire at their home in East Sussex will not face prosecution, police have said.

Denise Goldsmith, 29, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and child neglect five days after the fire in Milfoil Drive, Eastbourne.

Lewis and Taylor Jenkins, aged seven and five, died on 4 October last year.

Police said on Friday that on advice from the Crown Prosecution Service no criminal prosecution would take place.

They said Ms Goldsmith had been stood down from her bail and an inquest would be held at a date yet to be fixed.

Firefighters found the bodies of the two boys at the property after the fire.

Post-mortem examinations later showed they died from inhaling fire fumes.

After the blaze, Ms Goldsmith was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital where she was treated for minor burns and bruises.

She was arrested and bailed five days later, and questioned again by detectives and given bail last December.

Sussex Police said it extended its deepest sympathies to all those concerned with the tragic events.
