Mountain rescue teams find body Inquest opened on Snowdon death

Mountain rescue teams searching for a 70-year-old man missing on Snowdon have located a body. An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a 70-year-old man who was found dead on Snowdon - the fourth fatality within 10 days.
It is the fourth death on Snowdon in the last 10 days. The body of Brian William Middleton from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was found by rescuers on Wednesday afternoon after he was reported missing.
The man, from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was last seen on Tuesday and an RAF helicopter and mountain rescue teams have been involved in the search. The North West Wales Coroner adjourned the inquest to a later date.
The helicopter rescued two ice climbers stranded in Snowdonia earlier on Wednesday, just days after police urged inexperienced walkers to stay away. Two brothers from the south west of England and another man have also died on the mountain this month.
In a statement North Wales Police said: "The body is believed to be that of the 70-year-old man from the Halifax area who was reported missing, however North Wales Police are still awaiting formal identification. Mr Middleton was last seen on Tuesday and an RAF helicopter and mountain rescue teams were involved in the search.
"The search involved North Wales Police and the force helicopter, mountain rescue teams from Llanberis, Ogwen and Aberglaslyn and the RAF helicopter after the alarm was raised shortly after 10am this morning." Also on Wednesday, the helicopter rescued two ice climbers stranded in Snowdonia, just days after police urged inexperienced walkers to stay away.

Inexperienced walkers were told to stay away from Snowdonia after a man died and six people were rescued in one day. They were flown to safety on what was RAF Valley's 8,000th search and rescue flight.
