Version 0 of 1.

Police investigating the disappearance of a Blackpool schoolgirl have been given more time to question a man on suspicion of murder.

Paige Chivers has not been seen since she walked out of her family home in Bispham in August 2007 after a family argument. She was 15 at the time.

Officers said they were keeping an open mind about her whereabouts after making the arrest on Tuesday.

They have now been given a further 12 hours to quiz the 40-year-old.

Appeal for information

Detectives have until 1900 GMT on Wednesday to hold the man, following an application for a superintendent's warrant of further detention.

Lancashire Police are continuing to appeal for information about the disappearance of Paige, who will be 17 next week.

Paige was last seen carrying a blue or purple suitcase and boarding the number 11 bus at Ashfield Road, Bispham, on 23 August 2007.

Two months later her father Frank and sister Maddison made the first of several appeals to the youngster to get in touch with them.

Paige is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.
